A BRIEF HISTORY OF HARRIS

Harris Construction Co., Inc. was founded in 1914 and has embraced over four generations, a span of some ninety plus years. Throughout this time, Harris has been a leader in the Central and Coastal area's of California in the construction industry, matching the constantly changing demands of architecture with new materials and techniques. Harris has completed a diversity of projects including but not limited to medical, food processing, institutional, commercial and industrial building markets during the past ninety plus years, comprising a construction dollar volume well in excess of one billion dollars. Harris Construction Co., Inc. has enjoyed an enviable success ratio in garnering construction projects from the competitive bid market, augmenting a negotiated project clientele that is approximately 50% of the firms annual completed construction dollar volume of approximately 100 million dollars.  Design/Build and Construction Management Services also constitute a portion of Harris' negotiated projects. Having the benefit of utilizing our own work forces throughout the construction stages allows a faster method of expediting the project. Harris Construction Co., Inc., has a hands on working involvement of between 15% and 35% of the project using our own crews for concrete, framing, insulated wall and ceiling panels, and finish carpentry. Additionally, Harris Construction Co., Inc. provides on-site True Builder type administration for Construction Management projects when this mode of service is applicable to a given project and owners desire. The percentages noted above will vary subject to the design criteria of a specific project and the owners requested bid procedure. This process becomes a great asset both in quality and in meeting Owners project completion schedule. Much of the success of our organization has been due to the ability to provide valuable preconstruction services for clients prior to finalization of project plans and specifications, an excellent rapport with subcontractors and materials suppliers located throughout California, and the ability to complete projects on schedule and within established budget constraints.
